The 35th Parachute Artillery Regiment (35e RAP) in Tarbes is in mourning following the death of Senior Corporal (brigadier-chef) Hervé Servius. Injured in an accident during operational training, he died after a long stay in hospital on Friday 1 December.
The Minister for the Armed Forces announced the news yesterday morning. “I was saddened to learn of the death of Senior Corporal Hervé Servius”, wrote Sébastien Lecornu. “I extend all my support and my sincere condolences to his family and his brothers in arms.”
The 35th Regiment, unique in France for its specialisation in parachute artillery and urgent fire support, was created in 1873. The death of Hervé Servius after this tragic training accident marks a dark moment for the regiment and the French armed forces.
