On Sunday 10 September, Vannes hosted the final of the 2023 Military Rugby World Cup. France won 25-23 against Fiji.

In Vannes, the suspense was at its height in the final of the 2023 Military Rugby World Cup. Although the Fijians, two-time defending champions, set the pace in the first half with a score of 13-4, Les Bleus had not had their last word and began the second half with vigour. Taking advantage of two yellow cards shown to the Fijians, the French team managed to turn the tide with two penalties followed by a converted try in the 55th minute.

Despite these efforts, the two nations were level at 19-19 at the end of normal time. Extra time of 2x10 minutes was needed to separate the teams. And in the end it was France who came out on top, winning thanks to a decisive penalty.

This victory is a positive sign for French rugby, which hopes to see the same success for the civilian team.
