In a press release published this Monday, Safran Helicopter Engines announces the renewal of the maintenance contract for the Arriel engines powering the US Army’s fleet of UH-72 Lakota helicopters. This subcontract with Airbus Helicopters covers the maintenance, overhaul and repair of more than 900 engines.
“This contract will be managed by Safran Helicopter Engines USA, from the Grand Prairie site (Texas) and the Daleville office in Alabama, which provides direct support for this fleet of training helicopters based mainly at Fort Rucker in Alabama”, the French group specified. With more than 3,000 engines in service and 2.5 million cumulative flight hours, this model is particularly well established in the United States.
Thierry Derrien, Executive Chairman of Safran Helicopter Engines USA, said: “Safran Helicopter Engines is proud to continue supporting the U.S. Army’s Lakota engines alongside Airbus. Our team stands alongside Airbus and the U.S. Army through its local facilities, which demonstrate the importance of our presence in the United States”.
