The Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, made his first official visit to Poland on Tuesday 27 December 2022, where he met his Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak. During the visit, France and Poland signed an agreement for the sale of two Pléiades Neo satellites worth 575 million euros, to be launched by 2027. The contract represents a total of 500 jobs in France over five years. “Poland’s strategic autonomy in intelligence and situational understanding” will thus be considerably strengthened, Sébastien Lecornu stressed. The Minister of the Armed Forces also pointed out that the agreement is part of efforts to develop interoperability between the French and Polish armed forces.

The agreement comes a few days after the resounding failure of a Vega-C rocket launch from the Kourou space centre. Two Pléiades Neo satellites were on board the launcher.
