ITS unveils its Charon gloves, specifically designed for fast-rope descents. Developed with the help of the Royal Marines, these gloves are currently being evaluated by several French specialist units.

This pair of gloves is made of leather and Kevlar, with a heat-resistant coating of carbon and silicone. Its main innovation, however, lies in the funnel-shaped polymers covering the inside of the palm, which create an air cushion between the hand and the glove. “This air cushion acts as a stable air buffer for thermal insulation and provides perfect grip between the glove and the hand, preventing the glove from turning or twisting during the descent”, explains ITS.

The combination of the materials used and the 3D polymers provides excellent grip on the rope, even in changing weather conditions. Depending on the type of rope and its diameter, an experienced wearer can adjust speed and stop if necessary. In addition, Charon gloves are pre-shaped and therefore easy to use with a weapon. The Royal Marines played a very large part in developing this product, which is currently being evaluated by several French specialist units.
